Bozeman Health and Gallatin County Public Safety Partners to Conduct Emergency
Preparedness Exercise This Sunday in Big Sky and Bozeman
Bozeman, MT (October 30, 2025)— Bozeman Health, in collaboration with Gallatin County emergency response agencies, will conduct a mass casualty incident (MCI) simulation exercise on:
Sunday, November 2 from approximately 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The full-scale exercise will test emergency response and coordination procedures between Bozeman Health’s two hospitals, Big Sky Medical Center and Deaconess Regional Medical Center, and local fire, emergency medical services, and public safety agencies. Normal hospital operations will not be affected, and all emergency departments will remain open to care for patients.
“This exercise reflects Bozeman Health’s ongoing commitment to community safety and delivering high-quality emergency care, said Kiera Pattison, Bozeman Health Chief Nursing Officer. “By partnering with our local public safety agencies, we strengthen our collaboration and enhance our ability to respond during a real large-scale emergency. Regular training with fire, emergency medical services, and law enforcement ensures we’re prepared for a real crisis. We train with the hope that we’ll never need to use these skills, but we’re ready if we do.”
During the exercise, members of the public may notice:
- Emergency personnel, increased emergency vehicle traffic, and hospital staff participating in response activities in and around Big Sky Medical Center and Deaconess Regional Medical Center.
- Mock patients with simulated injuries, “moulage,” being transported by ambulance or walking into the facilities.
- Staged activity with increased emergency vehicle traffic near Big Sky Community Park and Bozeman Fire Station 2 near Bobcat Stadium.
Agency partners are Big Sky Fire, Yellowstone Club, AMR- Bozeman, Bozeman Fire, Gallatin County Emergency Management, Gallatin County Dispatch Big Sky Fire, Montana Regional Health Care Coalition and MSU nursing students.
