Biography:
Logan Wilz, MD, CAQSM is a fellowship trained, board certified sports medicine doctor working in the Bozeman Health MSU Clinic. He serves as lead team physician for Montana State University athletics. He joined Bozeman Health after finishing his primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Iowa where he worked with their football, wrestling, baseball and women’s basketball teams in addition to covering the National Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Championships and spending time with the Chicago Cubs during spring training.
Dr. Wilz has been recognized as being in the top 10% in the country by patients for their experiences with him in clinic. He also values mentorship and education and serves as a clinical instructor through the University of Washington WWAMI program; helping medical students gain invaluable clinical experience early in their careers. In addition to his clinical care he has authored multiple peer reviewed scientific journal publications and presented at the national level on various topics including skin infections in athletes, diagnostic ultrasound of the thigh & ankle, and orthobiologic injections for acute muscle injuries.
His goal is to meet patients where they are at and help them meet their physical activity goals. He provides non-surgical care for a range of orthopedic conditions of joints, bones, tendons, muscles, nerves, and ligaments. His specialty training in musculoskeletal ultrasound helps him provide accurate diagnosis for injuries and ongoing pain, deliver injectable medications precisely to their needed location and offer a number or procedures to treat various conditions. These in-office procedures include tendon scraping, cyst & hematoma aspiration, percutaneous needle tenotomy, perineurial hydrodissection, calcific barbotage, and tendon brisement. His primary care background and sports medicine specialty training allow him to be an area leader in care of sport related concussion, athlete underperformance & fatigue, and medical issues in athletes.
In his free time, he enjoys a wide range of activities including spending time on the water, skiing, hiking, biking, and spending time with his wife and animals including their two horses.
