Emergency & Trauma Care

Bozeman Health has two, full-service emergency departments in our health system that are both are DNV-GL certified for safety and quality of patient care and staffed 24/7/365. Our emergency departments are always open, and both have helipads for air ambulance transport.

Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center

In Bozeman, we have a 27-bed, 25-room, Level III Verified Trauma Center, and is staffed by board-certified physicians, mid-level practitioners, registered nurses, psychiatric services specialists, and patient care techs. As a Level III Trauma Center, we have 24-hour availability of our trauma team, which encompasses members of the OR, ED, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, lab and radiology departments. This team can be assembled and ready even prior to the injured patient’s arrival in the hospital. Our trauma department rigorously reviews all of our trauma cases and meets monthly to discuss aspects of care and review advances in trauma education and practice. The emergency department is a certified Primary Stroke Center based on the guidelines of the Brain Attack Coalition and recommendations from the American Stroke Association.

Bozeman Health Big Sky Medical Center

In Big Sky, our emergency department has six treatment rooms, with two rooms equipped specifically for trauma cases and one for patient observation. We treat injuries and illnesses as well as stabilize trauma.

Learn About Injury Prevention

At Bozeman Health, we recognize that injury prevention is a priority to help reduce injury and death in our community. In Montana, injury is the leading cause of death for people ages one to 44. Outside of death, injuries can present themselves in a wide variety of severity, resulting in either a few stiches to lifelong disability. From motor vehicle collisions, to falls, to the large amount of recreational accidents that can happen in Montana, it is important to remember safety first.

Through preventative efforts, programs, and education, it is Bozeman Health’s hope to reduce the number of injuries in our region. Please reach out to us at bhtraumaprogram@bozemanhealth.org regarding any questions or to learn more about our programs. If you are interested in any of the below program options, you can also add your name to the waitlist for the specific program and will then be notified about any upcoming classes.
