Breast Surgery
(Bozeman Health is the only location in Montana providing the services below)
Dr. Shauna Werth Kronfuss is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship trained in breast oncology surgery. She is one of two physicians in Montana with this specialized training. She provides surgical treatment for patients with breast cancer and other non-cancerous breast conditions. Dr. Werth Kronfuss works closely with the breast team in Advanced Medical Imaging as well as the Bozeman Health Cancer Center, helping patients navigate breast cancer treatment.
In the Fall of 2023, Dr. Werth Kronfuss recruited highly specialized microvascular reconstructive plastic surgeons from Texas, Dr. Ted Nagel and Dr. Nabil Habash, to perform autologous free flap breast reconstruction surgery at Bozeman Health. This surgery utilizes a patient’s own skin and subcutaneous tissue from the abdomen, thigh or buttocks area to build new breasts after a mastectomy. This is a newer and more natural alternative to implant-based reconstruction, which is also available at Deaconess. We are the first and only hospital in Montana that offers free flap breast reconstruction. This is a tremendous benefit to the community because patients able to receive care that used to require out of state travel, close to home!
