Our infectious disease team offers full evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of illnesses caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.

Many tropical diseases are considered infectious diseases because they are transmitted by insects such as mosquitoes and flies that carry a parasite, bacterium or virus that is infectious to humans. Our infectious disease team has extensive training in this area, and also sees healthy people who plan to travel to foreign countries or locations where infection risk is higher. In these cases, we can help determine whether special immunizations or other preventive measures are necessary to protect travelers from disease.
