National recognition highlights commitment to patient safety and quality care
Bozeman, Montana. — May 6, 2026 — Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center (DRMC) has been nationally recognized as one of the nation’s safest hospitals by earning an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.
Earning an ‘A’ requires an organization-wide commitment to prevent harm before it happens. The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit, assigns letter grades to eligible hospitals nationwide based on more than 30 performance measures, including errors, accidents, preventable injuries and infections, as well as the strength of systems and protocols designed to avoid them.
“This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of every Bozeman Health care team member to provide safe, high-quality care to each patient, every time,” says Dr. Kathryn Bertany, Bozeman Health CEO.
Bozeman Health’s ‘A’ grade is supported by standout performance in several key areas, including low rates of post-operative complications, exceptional patient experience scores, and effective communication by doctors, nurses and support staff – all factors that are essential to preventing errors and ensuring positive outcomes. These efforts underscore what it takes to deliver high-quality, safe care.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Bozeman Health,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Bozeman Health, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national hospital rating program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and the results are freely available to the public.
