Biography:
Dr. Alexander Thomas is a pediatrician at Bozeman Health Pediatric Clinic with a passion for partnering with children and families throughout childhood and adolescence. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency through the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. He also holds a master’s degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Dr. Thomas’ training has given him experience in caring for children in a variety of communities and settings, including rural and medically underserved areas. He has a particular interest in caring for children and youth who have special or complex health needs, Indigenous children, immigrant children and those affected by food insecurity.
His approach to pediatrics centers on prevention, education and building lasting relationships with families. He believes in listening to each family’s goals and providing clear, evidence-based guidance to support children as they grow. Dr. Thomas speaks English and Spanish and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Thomas enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife and dog. He finds joy in backpacking, biking, paddling, skiing, snowboarding, hiking and camping, as well as cooking and sharing meals with family and friends.
Philosophy of Care:
“I believe caring for children is a partnership with the whole family. I start by listening to what matters most to each child and family, then work with them to make thoughtful decisions based on their goals and the best available evidence. I want families to feel supported and confident as they navigate the many stages of childhood, from everyday health and development to more complex medical needs. My goal is to build lasting relationships with families and help children develop the knowledge, habits and support they need to thrive throughout their lives.”
